SMT Operator A Nights

Position:      SMT Operator A – 2nd Shift

Hours:         Monday – Thursday, 4:30pm – 3:00am

Reports to:  Production Supervisor

 

We are looking for an energetic, hard-working, self-starter to join our team.

 

DESCRIPTION:

The SMT (Surface Mount) Operator A level is an entry level position to the SMT production lines. The SMT Operator A will be trained to 3 main operations:

  • Load and Unload feeders for operation as well as preparing future orders.
  • Operate pick and place equipment that places electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, and integrated circuits, into printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Operate AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) Equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Loading and unloading feeders
    • Ability to use SMT Line Control
    • Ability to load, unload and set up all SMT feeders
    • Identify issues with feeders and submit to SMT LEAD for repair
    • Identify components that are moisture sensitive and care for them according to IPC specifications.
  • AOI
    • Performs all duties required to start-up and shutdown the AOI machine(s).
    • Must be able to correctly load correct AOI program.
    • Must be able to correctly perform a production change-over.
    • Must be able to correctly complete all AOI related paperwork.
    • Ability to look up and print shop floor paperwork from Crystal reports
    • Knowledge and ability to find, read and understand part data sheets and Resistor Guide.
    • Enter Shop confirmations into Macola
    • Stops machine and notifies supervisor of machine malfunctions.
    • Ability to clear minor machine jams.
    • Notify the SMT Operator immediately if recurring errors are found on PCB.
    • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • SMT
    • Performs all duties required to start-up and shutdown the SMT machine(s).
    • Performs standard operation including positioning PCBs on machine bed holding fixtures and monitoring machine operation.
  • Must be able to correctly load and unload the SMT feeders.
  • Must be able to correctly perform a change-over with assistance.
  • Ability to setup a proper profile for the SMT oven with assistance
  • Ability to setup a First Article with assistance.
  • Must be able to correctly complete all SMT related paperwork.
    • Calmly troubleshoot basic issues as they arise and make the necessary modifications to the program or equipment to correct the issue.
    • Makes minor machine adjustments and clears machine jams.
    • Reporting of all scrap and unusable parts to maintain an accurate physical inventory.
    • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
    • Complete all 1st off inspections with assistance.

Education and/or Experience

  • Prefer one (1) years’ experience in electronics manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Typical on-the-job training once you have a job in this occupation: Short-term on-the-job training including:
    • Lasts for 6-8 weeks and covers feeder loading. AOI operation and basic SMT operation
